This family activity requires a parent/guardian to attend with their child. Suitable for children aged 8-11 years.
Learn about the ancient process of triaxial weaving, a method that has been used worldwide by generations in fabrics, basketry and materials known for their strength such as Kevlar. This unusual three axis method of joining material can produce complex curved geometries in a hexagonal meshed structure that can hold its position without extra joinery.
During this workshop you will master the triaxial weave and learn how to develop various different 3D forms in a variety of materials, while exploring woven structures as a tool for design with potential applications within design and architecture. Apply your new knowledge with a variety of materials to vessels, lampshades or architectural models.
